Household Hazardous Waste and eWaste
Household hazardous waste like old paint and cleaning products can't be discarded in your trash cans. It's bad for the environment and against the law. Car batteries are especially bad for land fills because of the lead they're made with. The same goes for computers, electronic equipment, computer monitors and televisions. There are several solutions for disposal of these items. See below to schedule a pickup at your home.
You can take most items to:
Anaheim Regional HHWCC
You can also take tv's and electronic waste to (maps & details)
The WM transfer locations accept:
There's no charge for televisions, most other material is charged $48/ton with a $40.39 minimum. Construction debris is charged $58/ton. Neither location can accept:
Here's another hazardous waste program you may not be aware of. Waste Management At Your Door will come to your home by appointment and pick up a wide variety of electronics and waste. Here's the list. Their arrangement with the City is that they'll come out up to three times per year per resident.
Please make it worth their while, talk to your neighbors and get your waste together before calling. They'll take car batteries and old cell phones and mercury switches and microwaves, things that don't belong in landfills. No paint or liquids though. They recycle precious metals from electronics too. Got an old 386 PC in your garage? They'll get something out of it. You can call 800-449-7587 or 714 223 3937 email firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out the form on their website. Their appointments are typically two weeks from when you contact them, so plan ahead.
Every year WSNA organizes a Dumster Day in early March where 5 large construction dumpsters are brought to our neighborhood on Saturday morning for your use between 8AM and Noon. It's a great way to get rid of old fencing, concrete, building materials, tree limbs, and stuff that didn't sell at your last garage sale. The timing of DD is usually the weekend after the Spring Santa Ana garage sale weekend. The City mails a flier to every home in Washington-Square and the WSNA membership letter is usually piggybacked with it.
